Twitter Church — April 10

The other night, after having a great brunch with a friend, and doing some homework, I got a little overwhelmed with life, even to the point of becoming a tad depressed. Then I talked to my dad. Both of them. My dad called me on the phone and we had a wonderful conversation just about all that’s going on in both our lives. It was nice to know that we were struggling with some of the same things. We were open, honest, and vulnerable about our lives. And it felt great.

Then we prayed and talked to our Heavenly Father. It was just what we both needed. I don’t know about him, but I was crying so hard by the time we finished — I mean that ugly cry too — that I couldn’t even breathe out of my nose. But I felt so much better. Like a weight had been lifted off my shoulder. There was little doubt in my mind that my Twitter family needed to hear what I had just received. Below is what I shared. Removing the “You Met Online?” Stigma

With the popularity of Twitter, Facebook, and other social media networks on the steady rise, the once highly stigmatized phrase, “we met online,” has become more widely accepted.

That was the time when the only people who met online were desperate people who used online dating sites and MySpace to hook up.

I recently had a friend — who is not on Twitter — ask me if I had ever met anyone I interact with on Twitter. I looked at her like she was crazy. Of course I have! (In fact, just yesterday, I had lunch with a friend who I met on Twitter.) Continue reading

Here’s My Disclaimer…

I feel a little like I’ve been neglecting my blog since school has started on August 17th. I’ve also been blogging at another site,, which is owned by Radio One and while it’s been fun blogging there, it’s definitely a different crowd than here. Y’all get the more transparent, honest, side of me over here. They get the more Christian, spiritual side of me. I’m going to try not to post the same articles in both places, but occasionally will.

I wanted to write this post for 2 reasons: to let you know I still care about my readers and to give all those who know me in “real life” my disclaimer. For some reason, I feel like I need to give folks a disclaimer as to what they’re getting into when they converse with me> It’s really more for them than it is for me.I want them to know what to expect from me. The reason I feel this applicable to discuss now is due to a conversation and ensuing drama I had to deal with last night because of a tweet and Facebook status update. Continue reading
