I stumbled on your blog tonight and had only read two of your entries when this one caught my eye. Not really knowing your worldview yet, I was leery about what you might have to say but was very pleasantly surprised. I’m really struggling finding a church in my new town that adheres to the moral values Christ preached but also is one where I won’t hear misguided and hysterical Obama-bashing. Thank you for a Christian voice of reason in this area…..I’ll continue to follow your blog when I’ve time.

I agree with the author on many levels, and applaud him for challenging those people who say they are Christians and are praying for Obama’s demise. However, we as Christians must be weary and ever aware of the wolves in sheep’s clothing. There is nothing christlike about the things these T-Shirts, bumper stickers, ect… are urging people to do. We are to admonish and challenge those persons and hold them accountable for misrepresenting the kingdom of God. For those people… Those people are not Christians.

All leadership is God-ordained and who are we to criticize who God put into place? Look back at how David treated someone who was actually in leadership (not just wicked and deceitful men). When Saul when he was seeking to kill David, David specifically said that he would NOT lay a hand to Saul because that was who God put into place as king and rebuked his men for telling him to do so(I Samuel 24:5). There is something to be said for Christians who actually allow God himself to have revenge – and pray for repentance, salvation, and reconciliation of their leaders.

Good column. Why waste energy casting judgment anyway. The bible also says what we judge others for will come back on those who wish it. It’s God’s role to judge Obama, and when we take that role we step out of God’s grace.
